Rainforest Biome Language Work Bundle
Enjoy learning how to read and identify words with this Rainforest themed language bundle. It includes:
South America Rainforest Biome Language Mat
Print the rainforest biome language mat and laminate it. Use the language mat as inspiration for story telling. Use the picture cards to play act stories on the rainforest biome language mat.
Level 1 Matching Cards - CVC Word to Picture
Print one copy of the CVC word cards and the matching picture cards. You can laminate them for durability or print onto thick card stock paper. Then cut the word labels and pictures out. The picture cards can be used to match to the word cards for language work. This activity can be done once the child knows all their letter sounds and is beginning to sound out CVC words. Some words, such as fly, need the explanation that the y is a long sound. The other word that needs some instruction is the word "eat". All the other CVC words have the short vowel sound. And the CVC word cards and sight word cards can be used to create simple sentences. Use the picture cards on the Rainforest Biome mat to tell a story. Then invite the child to write the sentences.
Level 2 Advanced Reader Matching Cards - Word to Picture
The level 2 word cards are for the older child who is reading larger words. These cards are more advanced than the CVC reader. Use these cards the same way as explained with the CVC word cards. Print the word cards and then cut them out. The word cards are used to build sentences. The Rainforest Biome Language Mat with picture cards are used as inspiration for sentence building with the word cards.
Montessori 3-Part Cards and Memory Matching Game
Print two copies of these cards. You can laminate them for durability or print onto thick card stock paper. Then cut the word labels and pictures out. These cards can be a matching game. Invite the child to match the pictures. You can then label the pictures for the child. To increase the challenge of the matching game, turn all the picture cards upside down and play a matching memory game.
PLEASE NOTE: See the next page for Montessori 3-Part Card instructions.
Sentence Strips
Print and cut the sentence strips out along the lines. There is no need to laminate them for one child. If you have a classroom of children, then you can laminate them for durability. The first set is the easiest with common sight words and CVC words. Then the sentences become more complex for the advanced reader and include more sight words. Use the blank writing sheets for the child to write their own word lists and sentences. Or the child can copy the sentence strips onto the blank writing sheets.
